Today, Yao Wen is an entrepreneur. The 56-year-old had a stellar career at Siemens - and then broke away from Siemens when things were at their best. After graduating, she caught the eye of computer manufacturer Siemens Nixdorf, which urgently needed help with contacts in China. She didn't stay there long, because Siemens headquarters needed her even more urgently.

In 2020, CIP Mobility revolutionized the concept of classic bicycles with Mocci. The Smart Pedal Vehicles (SPV) combine recyclable high-performance polyamides and a novel production approach with a new software and system architecture. Now the bikes are about to go into series production.

Admittedly, mocci looks a bit unusual at first glance. The rather robust electric cargo bike does without spokes and chain, and the drive is completely digital. "We are the first to launch a so-called smart pedal vehicle on the market," says Yao Wen (57) proudly, pointing to the black vehicle standing in the conference room.

If the small vehicles are built from lightweight materials with integrated sensors, they offer a particularly high level of safety. The sensors monitor the condition of the components, detect damage immediately and indicate it.

With its so-called Smart Pedal Vehicles (SPV), the Munich-based manufacturer mocci wants to reinvent mobility in urban areas and has now taken an important hurdle towards large-scale production. At its heart is also a new manufacturing and material concept. Thanks to high-performance polyamide instead of steel or aluminum, a new type of production approach can be realized from large-scale production coupled with a completely new software and system architecture.
